This morning I met up with Laura and Chris who are to be married in less than six weeks. As is often the case we had never met as I was booked on the strength of my portfolio and Laura had already said that they were both a little nervous !

So this was operation get Laura and Chris relaxed enough to smile whilst showing them that having portraits done doesn’t have to be stuffy and boring and that it doesn’t have to be a chore ! Well I think we can say job done as I’m sure we got some smiles out of Chris – even if he was having to go home for a stiff drink.

So roll on the wedding day !

Yesterday evening I was dodging the rain showers at Fischers Baslow Hall for a pre wedding engagement session with Jacquelyn and John who are getting married later in the summer. The grounds at Fischers always look beautiful and with teh latest rain they looked really fantastic.

We had a relaxed stroll round the gardens  taking photographs and generally chatting about the wedding day and what was happening when. These sessions are invaluable to build a great working rapport with clients and that is why all my wedding collections have engagement shoots included. Jacquelyn and John will choose their favourite to have enlarged and mounted to use as a signing mat for guests on the actual wedding day.

Back again at Ringwood Hall Hotel for a pre wedding practice session with Emma and Jack before their wedding in a few weeks. They were very relaxed and I’m sure that they will be great on the wedding day itself which will be a little different with Emma having horse and carriage !

We had a walk round and chatted about how the day will run as the service is at the beautiful Norton Church in Sheffield nad hopefully we have all bases covered and everything will run according to plan ……So here are a few from their pre wedding photography session in Ringwood’s gardens.

Back to the beautiful wedding venue of Hassop Hall yesterday for the pre wedding, engagement, session with Sarah and Ray who are to be married at Hassop Church and then have their reception at this, one of Derbyshire’s best venues.

The sun was out in force which always makes things interesting but these practice sessions are more about relaxing the couple than the actual pictures and we had a leisurely stroll  round the stunning gardens whilst chatting about the upcoming wedding. Both were super relaxed and Ray and I decided that Sarah really needs to up her game a little as Ray was pretty much a natural ……………………

They pick one from these to have enlarged and mounted so guests can use it as a signing mat on the day, and they can then get it framed as a reminder of their wedding.

Yesterday I was back at Ringwood Hall Hotel for the wedding of Jennifer and Chris, First however it was off to Jennifer’s parents for the getting ready and when I arrived I wasn’t sure who was the most excited, Jennifer or Mum !

Nothing was left to chance as there were lists, spreadsheets and timings and everyone knew what they had to be doing and when to do it. The service was at the Mother of God church in Sheffield and it was very relaxed  with much laughing and smiling from Jennifer and Chris. After confetti outside we were off to Ringwood Hall for the wedding reception and celebrations to continue.

The beautiful summer weather meant that guests could have drinks and canapés  outside and after some formal family groups I had a walk round the grounds with Jennifer and Chris whilst staff got guests seated for the wedding breakfast. Speeches followed and I’m sure the tales of Chris’s violin playing will keep all who were there amused for some time.

All too quickly it was time for cake cutting and the first dance which marked the start of the evening  party. I left as many of the guests were hitting the dance floor.

Both Abi and James were very relaxed and we had a walk round  whilst taking some practice pictures ready for their bride and groom portraits on the wedding day itself.

So we are all set for what will be a fantastic wedding in fantastic surroundings ….

Yesterday it was another glorious day with the sun out and very warm ! I was at The Peak Edge Hotel Red Lion again for the wedding photography for Sarah and Daniel. I joined Sarah in one of the hotel’s beautiful suites to get some prep photographs as she was having hair and makeup done. Everyone was in great spirits and determined that this would be the best day so far for both Sarah and Daniel.

The ceremony was performed in the Orangery and went off without a hitch complete with some tears and lots of laughs ….. I’m sure Daniel will never remove that wedding ring!

Guests were able to enjoy the summer weather with drinks outside as the room was prepared for the wedding breakfast. Soon it was time for Sarah and Daniel to be announced to much applause and the celebrations continued. Speeches followed and then the evening guests started to arrive.

I left after the first dance as the party was just getting started.

After Friday’s gales and rain I wondered what Saturday would bring for Dawn and Conor’s wedding, but being an English summer it was as different again with wall to wall sunshine. Dawn and Conor were having a small intimate wedding with their friends and family at Fischers Baslow Hall, the perfect location for a wedding with friends !

First though I joined them in the morning for a walk in Chatsworth, they were very relaxed and determined to make the most of their day without it being the normal frantic rush from  start to finish. Afterwards we headed to Fischer’s to meet guests and family and for the intimate wedding ceremony in beautiful surroundings.

The weather meant that drinks and canapés were served on the lawns outside and staff made sure that Dawn and Conor had everything they needed. We had a walk round the grounds for some wedding photographs and then the wedding breakfast was served.

Friday I started out at the Belfry Hotel Nottingham to meet Ali who was marrying Oli (yes it does get confusing) for some prep shots before she went to the beautiful Swancar Farm Country House to finish getting ready. The weather wasn’t looking great and gales and rain seemed the order of the day. However Ali was SO excited it didn’t matter and she wasn’t going to let a little thing like freezing temperatures and winter weather affect her mood !

We got to Swancar and Ali finished putting on her dress which had some of the hardest buttons to fasten I’ve come across ! Guests started to arrive and Oli was enjoying the buildup, all smiles and no nerves at all. The ceremony room was upstairs and staff had made it look fantastic.

After a beautiful service the newlyweds were determined to celebrate with all their friends and family and the party started !

We managed to get outside for a few very brief portraits and Ali, although freezing cold, just about managed not to moan but was very thankful when we headed back inside. The wedding breakfast was superb and the service from staff excellent with everyone being well looked after.

All to soon it was speeches and Oli for once looked a little nervous, but he did a great job and survived. The room was cleared and the band setup for the evening party to begin. We left as the band were in full swing with a very happy Ali and Oli dancing the night away.

East Lodge is a beautiful wedding venue and one I love being a wedding photographer for … so it was nice to be back and meet up with Lyndy and John who are to be married here in 5 weeks time ….

The pre wedding sessions are invaluable to calm couples nerves and for the photographer to set minds at rest that the wedding day won’t be about the photographer but about the couple, which is exactly as it should be. We had a relaxed 30 minutes wander   around the immaculate East Lodge grounds chatting about plans for the day and getting some relaxed portraits at the same time.

I needn’t have worried about calming any nerves as both Lyndy and John were very relaxed and very excited about the upcoming wedding …… and having East Lodge as their wedding venue I know that everything will run like clockwork. There will be an outside ceremony in the beautiful grounds with lawns one side and pond the other and by the sounds of it a very healthy dose of the colour pink !

I’m looking forward to having a great day with a relaxed couple at a great location !
