Yesterday saw me in Essex at the stunning Gosfield Hall wedding venue for the marriage of Shelley and Michael. Gosfield is a beautiful venue for a marriage , set it open grounds and the building itself is full of character. Shelley and Michael had the weather on their side as it was a glorious summers day and all the guests were enjoying themselves outside on the lawns.

Everything was timed to perfection and even Michael arrived on time, which apparently is a bit of a novelty. The ceremony was outside in the sunshine and there was a blessing straight after for the couple which was very nice. Then it was on with the celebrations and the staff were superb and very well organised by Jo, the wedding organiser.

The first dance was a surprise for all the guests as Shelley and Michael had practised a routine and entertained everyone with twirls and spins. I left as the dance floor was filling and the party was getting in full swing.

For once this year yesterday proved to be pretty much rain free for the wedding of Alice and Matt at the beautiful St Andrews Church Prestwold. The day was planned down to the last detail – not saying Alice was a control freak, but I think everyone involved with the day had had numerous emails – and some of them at some very strange times! Even the Ushers were armed with walkie talkies.

However all the planning paid off and the church service was beautiful and then it was a short dash to Prestwold Hall which is a stunning wedding venue and only 150 yds from the church. Staff were superb and nothing was left to chance which meant that the celebrations went off without a hitch.

Threatening weather provided some interesting wedding photography, but the day was a mixture of bright sun and dark clouds. Alice and Matt were all smiles and were really enjoying themselves. When we left they had just finished a rather spectacular dance routine , to the surprise of their guests, and were in full party mood !

Yesterday saw me in the picturesque Derbyshire Village of Great Hucklow for the wedding of Tracy and Paul at the Old Chapel. Everything was very relaxed with guests walking to the chapel from the local pub and for once it was a dry start to proceedings.

I started at the beautiful wedding venue of Losehill House Hotel where Tracy and bridesmaids were getting ready. Again everything was calm and organised … well everyone seemed to have at least TWO lists done by a very well prepared Tracy ….

The service at the chapel was very relaxed and a real fun occasion – a quick walk through teh village for a couple of pictures infront of Tracy and Paul’s house and then it was off to the reception …. THEN it started to rain ! We still managed to get everyone organised for group shots and after a drink and a warm Tracy and Paul were off on a walk round Losehill for some wedding photographs and a time to relax.

The staff and service was as expected, excellent and everything ran like clockwork.

I left after the first dance and the party was just getting started.

Friday was the wedding of Danielle and Luke at the beautiful St Lawrence Church in Whitwell Derbyshire followed by a reception at Hotel Van Dyk. Again it was another week where fingers were crossed for the weather !

I started at Danielle’s house for preparation and all was very calm and Danielle was running to schedule (not that she is a control freak or anything) so there ws no chance of us being late. I then went to the church to meet up with Luke, who again was all smiles and no nerves !

After a great ceremony we came outside and were greeted by RAIN … no problem as all the guests didn’t mind and we still got the group shots done and completed, then we were off to the reception for the celebrations to continue. The weather didn’t play ball and the rain started coming down heavier … however we were helped by the fact that Danielle had a two glass limit for alcohol so didn’t mind in the slightest  about the rain and outside we went for some wedding photographs.

The staff were great and everything ran like clockwork and I left them as the disco was getting going and the guests were up on the dance floor to party the night away.

Today I was at Roche Abbey for a pre wedding / engagement session with Rachel and Daniel who are to be married in June. For once it seemed that the weather would behave and dare I say it we nearly had some sunshine! Rachel and Daniel were great and very relaxed so I’m sure their wedding photography on the day will be a breeze.

Here are a few that I liked from our wander round Roche Abbey.

Well at some point this year the weather is going to start and play ball. Nancy and James were getting married at the stunning Derbyshire wedding venue of Bolsover Castle in the beautiful Star Chamber and all fingers and toes were crossed for good weather as the castle can be a little exposed to say the least and rain would make the wedding photography difficult !

I started at Nancy’s parents for preparation and everyone was in good spirits, the slight knicker problem Nancy had was forgotten when she was presented with a box full of the appropriate garments to choose from ! Then we had the mishap of one bridesmaid and too many pies for the dress zip. Now she will maintain that the zip was faulty – but I’m not so sure. However despite this the weather was holding !

So off up to Bolsover castle to meet James and guests and await Nancy arriving. The wedding party arrived in a stunning vintage minibus followed by Nancy in a beautiful Rolls Royce wedding car ….. and still it didn’t rain !

After a great ceremony in the Star  Chamber we came out and – yep it started to pour with rain and the strong wind made it feel like the depths of winter, most of the groups were done and the guests left to go to the reception venue. Leaving myself, Nancy and James to try and get some wedding photographs using the stunning castle grounds, in the rain and wind ! Then it was off to The Fox and Goose for the wedding reception and party time.

The whole wedding had been closely organised by Julie and Dawn from Derbyshire Wedding Planners and I would recommend you look at them to help your day run smoothly – this one did despite everything the weather could throw at us.

So today it was a trip north to Preston and the fantastic Samlesbury Hall for the pre wedding practice session for Sophie and Zavier who were over from Spain for a few days prior to their wedding in August. Zavier must have brought the Spanish weather with him as the sun was out with force and it made a welcome change after the weekends downpours.

We went over details for the wedding and had a wander round the grounds of this beautiful Preston wedding venue, getting Zavier comfortable in front of the camera . I love these sessions as it means that on the wedding day the photographs are much more relaxed as the couple have an idea of what is going to happen. This is why all my collections come with a pre wedding / engagement session and a large mounted signing picture from the session.

So here are a few from today.

Yesterday I was at the beautiful wedding venue in Gloucestershire of Clearwell Castle for the wedding of Anton and Jemma. Clearwell Castle is a stunning wedding venue and great for a wedding photographer with beautiful interior and grounds. Anton was, to say the least a little on edge when we joined him in the morning as the weather wasn’t looking as if it was going to behave! However we managed to dodge the showers during the day and eventually both Anton and Jemma relaxed and were really enjoying their wedding day.

The staff at Clearwell Castle made sure the wedding ran like clockwork and really know how to look after a wedding party – everything was run to perfection.

Evening saw the start of the dancing and after a nervous Anton had taken his new bride for a spin round the dance floor – the party got in to full swing.

Last of three weekend engagement photography sessions today and I was at the stunning Cheshire wedding venue of Abbeywood Estate in Delamere. This is quite a new Cheshire Wedding Venue and it is stunning, set in beautiful grounds and the ceremony will, weather permitting, be outside in a lovely gazebo. I was meeting Jillian and Dale for a look round and a practice session before their wedding in July.

The weather was kind and we missed all the heavy rain and even had a little sun at one point. Bothe Jillian and Dale were very relaxed and seemed to enjoy the whole experience – so the wedding day will hopefully go without any problems photography wise.

We only used half the gardens at the estate and some of the more woodland walks may be available to use on the day, which would be very nice.

Nikki and Alan are getting married at the beautiful Derbyshire Church of St Peter’s in Holymoorside in a few weeks so it seemed fitting to have a wander round the village for the pre wedding session and to make sure that Alan knew what he was supposed to do on the wedding day photographs.

The sun was out and it felt like summer – so we had a wander through the village and I needn’t have worried as both Nikki and Alan were very relaxed. These Pre Wedding Photography sessions are more about getting the couple relaxed than they are about the photographs themselves. We only need one good shot for their enlargement / signing mat !
